There are several ways to get involved with Gamma Phi Circus. You can join as a student performer or you can donate and financially support Gamma Phi Circus. All are welcome!
Membership in Gamma Phi is open to all full-time Illinois State University students, faculty, and staff regardless of major field of study, department affiliation, or gymnastics background.
Many of our members come to Gamma Phi with no background in circus or gymnastics. Gymnastics, cheerleading, or dance experience helps, but it is not required. What we look for are hardworking athletic people who are coachable. We start off each year by giving perspective members the opportunity to try the different acts we have to offer and then skill build as we approach auditions in mid-to-late October.
To begin your journey in Gamma Phi you should attend one or more Circus Open Houses early in the Fall Semester.
The circus welcome all students, faculty, and staff to come try their hand at the circus arts! Members of the Gamma Phi Circus will lead attendees around the circus gym to try many different circus activities. These include: trampoline, aerials, juggling, unicycles, acrobatics, clowning, tumbling, and more! No prior circus or tumbling experience is necessary! Come as you are and enjoy circus! To get the full experience and have time to try all of the acts being presented it is recommended that you attend two different days of our Open House events. We recommend wearing athletic or active style clothes for a full experience, but are not required for participation.
*Anyone is welcome to attend, but participation will be limited for individuals under 18 years old unless they have their parents sign a form before coming to the event. Please contact Rainie Themer for specific forms if you are under the age of 18 at 309-438-2937 or firstname.lastname@example.org
